We have begun the process of putting on-board air in the Pinz for numerous reasons. After gathering parts, we are finally ready to start putting them all together. Below you will find how we did it and the cost.

We purchased a 24v Viair 450C Air Compressor motor for a really good price.

After debating the best way to complete our on-board air system, we decided it was best to purchase a small air compressor from Harbor Freight and strip what we did not need instead of gathering all of the parts to build one from scratch.

Fresh out of the box, the Harbor Freight compressor looks like this

Here is what it looks like with the top cover off.

Most of the stuff was worthless to us, especially the motor since we had the Viair. After we stripped down the parts we did not need, we ended up with something that looks like this. Essentially in the above picture, everything except the pressure gauges and the pressure switch are gone.

Next was a trip to the local hardware store to pick up some wire, mounting hardware, elbows, plugs, etc.

A quick coat of Pinzgauer green spray paint, and our tank set up is complete.

Total Cost
Viair Compressor Motor - $250
Harbor Freight tank - $35
Hardware (wire, plugs, spray paint, mounting, etc.) - $35
Total - $315
