the plan
One of the first upgrades to our Pinz is replacing the stock seats. We
found two seats from a Jeep Grand Cherokee in great condition on
Craigslist for $60. Our plan is to cut the welds on the existing seat
frames and mount the new seats using the existing seat frames and
mounting points.
a helpful bit of advice
We hunted through our local junkyard many times over looking for seats
that were narrow enough to replace the stock seats. We found that seats
between 19"-20" would work best, especially if they had a tapering
bottom.
other options
Before we decided on seats from an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee, we looked at the following vehicles:
Pontiac Sunfire
Chevrolet Camero (older body style)
Saturn S Series (1993-1994ish)
Pontiac Firebird (older body style)
Jeep Cherokee (box style)
Plymouth Laser
Toyota Trecel
the outcome
Seat upgrade was completed this week. Unfortunately, this project turned
into a late night project and pictures did not happen. We will post
pictures of the completed look soon. Ultimately, in time we will be
happy with the decision to change the seats. The passenger seat now sits
considerably higher than it did before, similar to the height of the
stock drivers seat. The drivers does not sit significantly higher,
although it was raised slightly.
Full write up coming soon.
